A Plan You Can Actually Use

Tasks turns launching and growing your app into smaller jobs, timed around your launch date. Instead of keeping a vague reminder to "do some marketing," you'll have work with an explanation, an expected outcome, and an estimate of how long it should take.

New apps get launch preparation, while projects imported from App Store Connect start with work aimed at growing an existing app. You can adapt either plan to fit what you're building.

Work Through a Task

Start with Today and pick something that fits the time you have. Read what done looks like before you begin; that's a lot more useful than trying to guess how much work the title implies.

Some tasks have a button that takes you straight to the right tool. Others ask you to write an answer, such as explaining your audience or deciding how you'll position the app. Those answers become Journal entries, so the thinking doesn't vanish when you check off the task.

Mark a task complete when you're finished. If you need to come back to it, just uncheck it. Completed work sticks around as a record of what you've done.

Keep the Schedule Realistic

The plan separates today's work, overdue tasks, upcoming work, and completed tasks. Right-click a task to move it to today, push it back, or delete it when it no longer makes sense. The postponement options move work relative to today.

You can change how far ahead the upcoming list looks in Settings. If your whole launch moves, update the launch date in Basic Information so the schedule follows your new plan.

Add Your Own Work

Use Add Custom Task for something specific to your app. Give it a title, date, and category, then explain why it matters and what you want to finish.

"Improve screenshots" is hard to pick up in a spare half hour. "Rewrite the first screenshot headline so it explains offline access" tells you where to start. Put the context in the task now and your future self won't have to piece it back together.

Search helps you find work across the plan, including task names and descriptions of the intended result.
