Competitor Screenshots

Review competitor screenshots and spot messaging patterns.

See How Other Apps Explain Themselves

Screenshots brings the App Store images from your tracked competitors together so you can compare their presentation. You can study the sequence and open an image for a closer look without constantly flipping between store pages.

Use it before making your own screenshots, or when your existing artwork looks polished but doesn't seem to explain why someone should download the app.

Read the Story First

Start with the first few images. What promise does the headline make? Which part of the app is shown? Could someone understand the benefit without reading the full description?

Then look at how the sequence develops. One app might explain three different use cases, while another spends several images demonstrating a single workflow. Think about which approach would work for your audience.

A handy exercise is to summarize each competitor's first screenshot in one sentence. If several make exactly the same promise, there's room for you to explain something more specific.

Inspect the Details

Open screenshots to look at their wording, layout, device frames, and UI. Check whether the text is still readable and whether the image actually backs up the headline.

For example, a claim about fast expense entry is stronger when the screenshot actually shows a short, understandable entry flow.

Remember that these are store images, not a walkthrough of the whole app. They show what the developer chose to promote.

Plan Your Own Sequence

Write down the job of each image before designing it. Your first image might explain the main benefit, the second show how it works, and the third answer a common concern.

Use competitor work to understand the choices they made, then make a sequence that fits your app. Copying a layout won't help if the message underneath it is still unclear.

You can carry the same thinking into a custom product page when you're talking to a more specific audience.
