Glossary ASO (App Store Optimization)

What is ASO?

ASO is short for App Store Optimization, and it's the practice of improving how often your app is found in the App Store and how often a visit becomes a download. It covers things users can search for (name, subtitle, and keyword field), the conversion assets (screenshots, preview videos, description), and all the important trust signals (ratings and reviews) that decide whether a searcher taps Get.

ASO is the closest thing indie developers have to free distribution: rankings earned through good metadata keep paying long after you do the work. The core of the process is simple: choose realistic keywords, ship metadata that targets them, measure whether rankings and conversion moved, and repeat.

Kickstart audits your live title, subtitle, description, and keyword field, prioritizes specific fixes, finds competitor keyword gaps, and tracks the rankings that show whether those changes worked.
