What are redownloads in App Store analytics?

A redownload is counted when someone downloads your app having already downloaded it before with the same Apple Account, which usually means a new device, a re-install after deleting, or a restore.

Redownloads are neither good nor bad on their own: high redownload share can mean loyal users returning, or churned users giving you a second chance. What matters is separating them from first-time downloads when you judge whether marketing is producing new users.
